WWII 1944 Melbourne Made Military Machete
WWII 1944 Military Melbourne Made Machete with original webbing/canvas sheath.
Really nice condition Bolo style blade Machete in original canvas case with metal top and canvas belt loop.
WWII DMP (Die Casters Pty Ltd) Melbourne Victoria Australia with DMP stamped on blade. The blade shows D ↑ D and underneath is M – 4 and underneath is P.
A learned gentlemen mentioned it comes from the above Melbourne company and the date is 1944, but I am only going on his advice and would stand corrected by an expert in these items.
It is in beautiful condition, razor sharp, no chips in the blade and no rust. the black finish is maintained across the whole blade apart from the sharpened edge and there is little wear and tear.
The handle is made from Bakelite and is in excellent condition with no dings, cracks or splits and it is secured with three pins.
The sheath/scabbard is genuine and is canvas, stitched and riveted with a metal top where the blade goes in and it has a webbing top with closure and belt loop. There is a small cut to the canvas of about 3cm where the blade has gone in which could be stitched.
Approx 82 years old, it is a fantastic example of an Australian military machete.
Full length is approximately 51cm long including a 14cm Handle.
More photos available if required. (The shiny spots on the blade in the image are sun rays.)
Shipping is $20.00 Australia wide apart from to Victoria where they have a stupid ill thought out ban on machetes.
